Fertilizer
Fertilizer Review is annual publication of National Fertilizer Development Centre, Ministry of National Food Security and Research. It is a comprehensive document covering various aspects of fertilizer i.e., domestic production, imports and price trend (national and international) on seasonal (Kharif and Rabi) as well as fiscal year basis. Fertilizer offtake at national, provincial and district level has also been included. Market prices of agriculture commodities and availability of credit have crucial role in determining fertilizer demand. Hence, economics of fertilizer use and disbursement of agriculture credit by banking sector has been discussed. Fertilizer and cereal supply/demand scenario at global level is also part of the review report. Another
important aspect is fertilizer demand forecasts for 2024-25.

Fertilizer
Fertilizer is a costly crop production input and has vital role in feeding burgeoning world population. Fertilizer related statistics are of interest to agriculture sector, fertilizer industry and international organizations. National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC), a technical section of Ministry of National Food Security & Research compiles “Pakistan Fertilizer Statistics” containing data on fertilizer and agriculture. This voluminous publication covers fertilizer production, import, export, offtake and price trends during last 10 to 15 years. Fertilizer use and crop yields in different countries and regions of the world, are also included in this bulletin. The data contained in this publication is based on information provided by relevant government organizations and fertilizer industry. The information pertaining to fertilizer use at global level is obtained from FAO database and IFA publications. Cooperation of all these organizations in finalizing the statistics is deeply acknowledged.

The National Fertilizer Development
Centre (NFDC), with the support of the World Phosphate Institute (IMPHOS) and
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United (FAO), implemented a phosphate
(P) use promotion research project in three phases: 1987-1990, 1996-2000and 2002-2005.
The work was undertaken in collaboration with provincial soil fertility organizations
to show the impact of balanced fertilization on crop production. This book summarizes
the results of field trials conducted during three phases of project. |

Their Use in Pakistan" in September 2003. It updates inforation and incorporates

FERTILIZER USE
SURVEY 2005 |

National Fertilizer Development Center,
Planning and Development Division conducted a nation wide survey on "Fertilizer
Use at Farm Level". It covered 3000 farmers and 300 dealers in 22 districts
tehsils of four Provinces. The report presents findings of the surveys on present
fertilizer use by crop, yield, economics availability and quality of fertilizer,
perceptions about organic and bio sources, environment, dealerships and other
related aspects. Preliminary results at Provincial level were shared with all
key stakeholders at Hyderabad, Multan, and Peshawar and finally at Federal level. |
